On the 25th of January I completely demolished my autumn town and started again from scratch, giving it a tropical makeover that was fuelled by the hype of AC New Horizons. 3 days before release I was finally able to finish this town and update it to the dream database one last time! This post will be a walkthrough of Tinytree in its updated dream town form. It doesn't have a story like Borei's horror town so there's no deep meaning behind it. Just enjoy the sights and have a relaxing time in a tropical paradise! Don't mind my shoddily mashed together blend above... I took them at different times and I'm too lazy to retake it, haha :'-)
Background
Tinytree is my oldest and longest played ACNL town. It was created on March 1 2016 shortly before the Welcome Amiibo update. It was originally completed sometime in 2018 as an autumn-themed forest town, but was fully demolished and landscaped again from scratch in January 2020 and completed again on the 17th of March, only 3 days before the ACNH release!
Since pre-update towns didn't have the luxury of plot resetting with the help of patterns, a lot of my villagers had plot their houses in terrible locations. Because of this, my original version of Tinytree had lots of winding dirt paths that worked around my villager's terrible plots, eventually turning into a beautiful forest town! I loved the aesthetic look of dirt paths, but once they disappeared after the winter or after a long hiatus, the town would feel cramped and chaotic. After I had completed Borei, I was still itching to play ACNL so I decided it was time to give Tinytree a redo, and thus bringing us to Tropical Tinytree! The biggest challenge I faced was coming up with new pathways that worked around my original villagers and their "terrible plots". I borrowed a lot of my landscaping ideas from Borei's layout, so there are a few similarities here and there... but once I figured everything out it was smooth sailing from there! While Borei has a general direction and road that leads you around the town to complement the story, Tinytree is meant to be viewed in any direction or order! Tinytree version 2 is now a lazy tropical town that is full of colourful flowers and fruit trees! The residents all own and manage their own small businesses: Eggs runs the Cafe/Shops, Mei runs the B&B, Louie runs the community centre, and Jules makes her own pottery and is the mayor of Tinytree!
Tinytree was updated at 4:50pm on the 5th of August, 2019 during a typical summer sunset. The hibiscus bushes are in full bloom! Since there is no story involved here I wont be writing much in the walkthrough other than naming the locations and other important details! I hope you enjoy your visit!
There are two outfits to choose from, a floral knit dress and the blue aloha shirt, with a straw hat that goes with both! There are no other items to be picked up on the floor other than outfits. I generally don't like to leave a lot of things lying around. This tour will be featuring mayor Malis of Borei :-)
Heading straight forward from the plaza is a fork in the road. The right side goes towards Louie's community centre and the bridge that goes to the docks. The left side goes to the Police station and town hall.
Louie's House & Campsite
Louie's house is Tinytree's community centre. It has a bike rental counter, gift shop, museum, real estate office, birthday event room, public library, and beach room!
To see Louie's full house, click here!
Here's a view of the path that connects to the bridge heading towards the docks. There is also a small trail next to Louie's house that leads to Tinytree's historical monuments (Stonehenge and Moai statue) as well as the campsite.
The Stonehenge and Moai statue are in a small foresty area with natural clover paths! The main colours of this town are yellow and orange because of the beautiful hibiscus bushes. However, each area also has other colours mixed in depending on the landscaping. The campsite has only red, yellow, and orange flowers with lychee trees.
Tangy and Freckles
Directly down from Louie's house is the bridge that takes you across the river towards the beach and docks! This side of town is where Tangy, Freckles, and Mei live.
Tangy lives on the left side with her house overlooking the waterfall and beach. Freckles lives to the right of the path. The ramp to the docks are directly in front.
A scenic spot next to the light house overlooking the cliff. Similar to the campsite, Tangy has yellow, red, and orange flowers to go with the and lighthouse and her exterior colour.
All villagers have some kind of personalised seating area or PWP to go with their houses, although some villagers like Tangy who have a larger area to landscape, are better decorated! In Tangy's case, she has the light house and yellow bench in front of her house, although those are more like the town's PWPs rather than her own personal lawn decoration. Tangy's own personal decoration is an Instrument shelter in the middle of her bed of flowers!
Here is the view from the edge of the cliff and from the bottom of the beach!
This is what the beach looks like from the docks. There is a clear colour split between Tangy's orange beach and Freckles' pink beach on the right! Each beach area was landscaped to match the colours of the houses/flowers directly above it.
The colour scheme changes towards Freckles' and Mei's house. There are now lots of orange and pink flowers with the yellow hibiscus mixed in! This area has mainly peach trees but there's a pear tree next to Freckles' house to go with her green roof. The log bench is shared between Freckles' and Mei.
River view of the log bench with the campsite forest in the back.
From the front view angle you can also see the Maoi statue on the other side of the river while sitting.
Here's a view of Freckles' house next to Mei's Bed & Breakfast and the view from Freckles' beach!
From the edge of Freckles' house you can also see a picnic blanket next to the ramp.
Mei's Bed & Breakfast
Right next to Freckles' house is Mei's Bed & Breakfast, Tinytree's only visitor accommodation! It is a colourful and eclectic homestay with two rentable bed rooms, one kitchen, and one bathroom. Mei also lives in the house and cooks for the guests! You can see the full house here.
Close up of her house exterior and log bench.
Next to Mei's house is a pathway that leads up to Jules' and Pudge's residence. There's a Wisteria Trellis here by the cliff!
Here's the path way leading up and a glimpse of the river and campsite flowers. Tinytree is a mix of so many different colours so it was difficult for me to make sure the "pink/purple" section would look good with the "red/yellow" sections or the "yellow/orange" sections, etc. Although the town itself is already so colourful that I think it doesn't matter too much!
Passing the cherry orchard and entering Jules' forest!
Jules and Pudge
Once you pass the cherry orchard you will arrive in a natural forest where Jules and Pudge lives! This tiny area is the only part of town with natural dirt paths. There are a few nature PWPs such as the Hot spring and Geyser, as well as the classic log bench that is seen in multiple areas around town.
Here's a glimpse of the forest with the geyser erupting! This is also the only area in town that has orange pansies and jacobs ladders used in the flower landscaping.
Here's Jules in her sailor hat outside her house! To see her whole house, click here!
The area itself is a recreation of Tinytree version1's natural springs that used to be located behind the town hall. However, the layout with the log bench + hot springs + geyser actually looks very similar to the landscaping around Malis' house in Borei. You can see some of the changes made from Tinytree's old version here.
Behind Jules' house is the stone tablet and a nice view of Hazel's apple orchard across the river.
Another view of the river and the bridge that leads to Hazel's house.
Here's Pudge's house by the waterfall! Pudge was one of Tinytree's first villagers. I plot my mayor's house nearby hoping that Pudge would eventually move out so I can have an isolated house alone in the forest... But I eventually fell in love with him and he's now Tinytree's oldest villager! I love him so much as a neighbour and I have always tried to work around his house when updating my landscaping over the years.
Hazel's Apple Orchard
Hazel's apple orchard is an area that didn't change much (idea wise) from Tinytree's older version. It was hard to landscape such a small sliver of land that it only seemed right to have a fruit tree orchard here. It is the only part of town where you can find perfect apples, my native fruit! I didn't think apples went well with the new tropical theme so I'm glad I was able to keep her orchard isolated so it feels like a unique location amidst all the colour.
Hazel has a log bench near her house as well. Her area is filled with black and red flowers. Hazel's apple orchard is the only part of town that uses black flowers.
A nice place to sit after apple picking!
Train Station
Exiting Hazel's apple orchard will lead you back to the train station and main area where Re-Tail, Cafe, and Town hall are located. This larger portion of town is more consistent in having multicoloured flowers throughout, whereas the sections that were just covered had flowers specific to location. This is one of the reasons why some areas like Hazel's apple orchard and the cherry orchard have the "plain stepping stone" path rather than the multicoloured pink and yellow paths.
Here's the large road that leads back to the Plaza in the centre of Tinytree.
Train station!
Scoot and Dizzy
To the right of the train station down the main path back to the plaza is where Scoot and Dizzy live in a mini neighbourhood by themselves. They live right to the edge of the Plaza. This is also right behind Louie's community centre where the dream tour started.
Scoot is one of my newest villagers who I added specifically for the Tinytree's tropical makeover. I thought his house would look perfect in a town like this, plus he's a cutie!
Right in front of Scoot's house is Dizzy's house! I relocated Dizzy near to Scoot because their houses were similar colour.
Dizzy and Scoot's little housing area has a "bamboo fence" that blocks them off from the pathway behind Louie's community centre. The mango trees also block them off from the plaza, making it feel like a cozy neighbourhood just for the two of them.
Here's another close up on their houses together!
Cafe
The cafe is located right in front of the train station and in close proximity to Retail. It was hard to work around this cafe because I originally built it in Tinytree after all my villagers plot into their terrible positions. This seemed to be the only area that the cafe fit. Thankfully, I was able to work around it somehow! Here is the old version.
The cafe has a drinking fountain in front of it surrounded by flowers!
It is on the very edge of the plaza so the plaza square can be seen from here as well.
The road down from the cafe will take you to the windmill plaza, June's house, and Townhall. I wanted to make a break from using paths that completely cover an area, especially since it is so close to the plaza. So this path way and some other pathways around town have alternating clovers to break up the amount of paths used.
Next to the Cafe is another mini plaza I made that connects the main facilities to each other, mainly the road to the cafe, Retail, and the Town hall. This area is very similar to something I made in Borei where the statue fountain was the centre piece of a secondary plaza.
The plaza has peach trees surrounding it to complement the pink in the windmill!
Here's another view of the plaza with some of the flowers behind it showing, as well as the path that leads up to Retail.
Down the road from the windmill is June's house!
The last part of my walkthrough ends at O'Hare's house at the south of town by the waterfall opposite to Tangy's house (as seen in the main photo of the post).
O'Hare doesn't have a PWP in front of his house but he does have a little stump he can sit on. Plus he has beautiful view of the ocean!
Here's a view of his house with the waterfall and his beach at the bottom! There's another picnic blanket here. I didn't cover the other beaches but those can all be viewed here.
So that's the end of Tinytree's dream tour! I had a lot of fun redoing this town again after leaving it on hiatus for so long and I'm glad I got to play on it before New Horizons. I'll definitely revisit this town to transfer patterns over at some point. Hope you enjoy your visit to Tinytree!

Retail & Eggs' House
Taking the road up from the windmill plaza takes you towards Retail and Eggs' house. This area has park-like PWPs and continues with the theme of colourful flowers.
Two square topiaries in front of Retail
Here's a close up of Retail with the pond next to it. There is a small road to the right of Retail that leads straight to the Train Station. Originally I did not want to put a path here and filled it with more flowers, but I opted for a path so that visitors and traders can have easy access to Retail instead of having to go through the Windmill plaza.
Right next to Retail and to the edge of the cliff is Eggs' house. Eggs runs the town's cafe, grocer, vintage shop, flower shop, and speakeasy bar! To see his whole house, click here!
There's also a tulip topiary in front of Eggs' house to go with the square topiaries. The road down from his house takes you to Chief's house and loops back to the windmill plaza. This is another area where I used alternating paths with clovers to break up the look of completely covered paths.
Chief and Stinky's House
Going down from Eggs' house takes you to Chief's house. On the beach next to him are palm trees and flowers that match his house exterior.
Here's a log bench in front of his house. Chief's house also has persimmons and oranges around it to match his house exterior.
Water pump.
A few spaces in front of Chief's house is Stinky's house. Him and Chief were also one of my earlier villagers and favourites so I was determined to make their clashing houses work together somehow. In my previous version, there was a vertical path that connected the two together, but in this tropical version I made a clear barrier to separate these two areas into Chief's "yellow section" and Stinky's "blue and multicoloured" section. I'm very happy with how it turned out!
Here's the view of Stinky's house and the beach with flowers that match his colours! There are only two areas with blue flowers to complement the houses: Stinky's, O'Hare's and Scoot's house.
In front of Stinky's house there is the tire toy and jungle gym. There's also a road that leads to town hall from Stinky's house, so I like to think that Stinky's PWPs are like the town's playground behind town hall rather than his personal lawn decorations.
Town Hall & Police Station
The town hall has a large open area in front that are paths that lead around the centre piece, the fountain! On the left to this fountain was the road from Stinky's house and to the right of the fountain is the Police station and O'Hare's house.
Here's a close up of the town hall that is remodelled to the Zen exterior. I actually think that the original town hall looks better with my town but I wasn't fond of the roof colour for the original model. The flag used here is a simple flower design with some of Tinytree's main colours!
Here's a dumb permanent rock that I had to work around. But it does make for a nice seating area. You can see the police station in the back!
Here's a closer look at the classic police station that looks really nice with the zen town hall! The diagonal road to the side of the police station leads back to the Plaza where we started the dream tour!
O'Hare's House
The last part of my walkthrough ends at O'Hare's house at the south of town by the waterfall opposite to Tangy's house (as seen in the main photo of the post).
O'Hare doesn't have a PWP in front of his house but he does have a little stump he can sit on. Plus he has beautiful view of the ocean!
