Borei Dream Town: Walkthrough

At long last, my second town Borei is finally finished and uploaded to the dream database! A little late in the game since not many people actively play anymore, but I'm proud of sticking through with it until the very end! This post is going to give a walkthrough of the entire town as it looks like during my final update. It will give my interpretation of the town's story & characters, so there will be spoilers in this post! Read on below or visit for yourself here:

This post will be very text and picture heavy! If I make any changes or improvements to the town and story I will edit this post with the latest version. To check out what it looks like during a rainbow, click here!

Borei House Tours: Bora

Bora's house is finally finished! This is my last and final house so my town is now "complete" in my eyes! I can now rest :'-) Bora's character is meant to be a spirit that is summoned back into the world to protect (and haunt?) the wilted peach forest from intruders. His house is part of the "horror" aspect of the town and gives hints about Borei's background and the villager's obsession with perfect peaches!

Content warning: graphic imagery plus story spoilers from my dream town.

ACNL: Bathroom Archives

I found a few old pictures of my past bathrooms in my towns, Kenka, Tinytree, and Borei! Bathrooms are definitely my favourite room to design, especially small cozy ones. In all my towns I try to include a bathroom in every house if possible, because it feels weird that a human resident doesn't have their own place to poop. I changed Tinytree's bathroom quite often so I have a few different versions for mayor Jules' house. Here are some photos of bathrooms I've made over the years.

Borei Town Tour: Rainbow Edition!

Now that my town is almost finished I may do a few different town tour posts documenting all the different areas of Borei in my favourite weather conditions as well as how the town looks like when it is uploaded to the dream database!! The first one that I thought was document-worthy was a rainbow during the hydrangea bloom in June. June or July sometime during the night time is going to be my final dream upload before I retire this town when ACNH comes out, so I've been time traveling often in this period while I get everything ready. This rainbow was seen sometime in June around 3:20pm and disappeared completely around 3:40pm

Diving with IKI & Bora's house WIP

I've been working towards finishing Bora's house in the "haunted woods" as it is the last and final house I need to do before my town is ready for a dream address upload! I got IKI over once again to show her some of my WIP on his house and new rooms. She came over in her halo accessory which I thought was fitting for the visit because the house is supposed to represent dreamers/visitors who have met ill fates while visiting Borei! Afterwards we went diving although it was mainly us taking photos of us suffering to jellyfish stings. Then we goofed around town a bit in our matching pink wet suits :')

Borei House Tours: Nary (Part 2)

The last three rooms are Nary's music room, library/study, and her bedroom. As seen in part 1, Nary's rooms have a few fancy display cases here and there with perfect peaches in them that kind of ties in with my town's story about the villagers and their peach obsession. Nary's basement in particular is another hint to the story because of what she keeps in there.

Borei House Tours: Nary (Part 1)

The next house on the tour list is my character Nary! Nary is Borei's young queen (although she is not the mayor of the town). Her house is a full sized Palace with a more regal look compared to the rest, although still keeping with the general asian theme I have throughout each house. She has a throne room (main), garden room (back), dining hall (right), music room (left), bedroom (top), and secret library/study room in the basement. This post will cover the first three and exterior.

Poqu visits Borei!

Today Poqu came over to hang out with me and IKI in my town! Poqu is another one of my good friends I met through Splatoon and the three of us would often play Switch games together, mainly Splatoon, Pokemon, and Stardew! I actually hadn't realised Poqu owned ACNL as well, so IKI and I roped her into joining us on some jungle adventures. Her visit to my town was her very first WiFi experience :'-) I'm a proud host!

Island Hopping with IKI! And CLUBBING!

I think I gave IKI the ACNL bug after our fireworks play session :'-) She messaged me about doing some island tours together the next day. I'm always down for island tours! Because she didn't have a lot of clothes on her character I prepared a vacation outfit for the both of us. I wore the blue aloha shirt with green plaid pants and she wore the red aloha shirt with rainbow plaid pants. Plus we had matching hats and everything! We also went to her island after for more games and shopping. Then we finished the day off by HITTING THE CLUB in the most ridiculous outfits we could find at Able Sisters that day! Lots of cute pictures below :'-)

Summer Fireworks Show with IKI! (Part 2)

While IKI was in town I also gave her room tours of some of the completed houses. IKI's character had no emoticons (or "shrunk jokes") so it was pretty much me just doing stupid stuff like sneezing into our food and dancing in inappropriate places. Although she was able to do the "struggling in the chair" movement! Most of the time was spent messing around by bumping into each other while lying in a bed or on a chair, haha :'-D I'm hoping that New Horizons will have a lot more ways to interact with objects as well as other players. But for now these kinds of little things are still entertaining to me, especially when we’re playing over VC!

Summer Fireworks Show with IKI! (Part 1)

Recently my good friend IKI visited my town Borei during the Fireworks Show! I met IKI about a year ago through Splatoon and the two of us have been very close ever since. She visited my town a couple months earlier when the town was still underdeveloped, so I decided to show her my progress so far! I've been time traveling a fair amount and it happened to be the Fireworks Show when she visited. It's also the first time I experienced the fireworks with a visitor. It felt like a whole new magical feeling!

Borei House Tours: Sann (Part 2)

The last three rooms in Sann's house are shop/facility rooms: the bird spa in the basement, the egg nursery in the back room, and a fruit shop in the left room. Both the egg nursery and bird spa are obviously bird themed facilities for my bird villagers! I've done general stores/grocers in my past towns although not one specifically centred around fruit. Since "golden peaches" (native fruit is a peach) being a scarcity in my town is a big theme and part of my town's "story", I thought that having a fruit shop in particular would help illustrate that there are many fruits available in Borei except for the perfect peaches.

Borei House Tours: Sann (Part 1)

The next house I completed was Sann's, which has a cafe, hair salon, bird spa, egg nursery, fruit shop, and his own room. The house is located on the far right side of the map near the campgrounds and ReTail. I have a habit of grouping "facility" or shop buildings near each other so it feels more like a small shop community. If only we could customise ReTail's exterior! Part 1 will cover his room, the cafe, and the salon as well as the exterior.

Borei House Tours: Mayor Malis

Now that I'm almost finished with my resident's houses in my ACNL town Borei, I will be posting house and room tours here! Once every house and room is complete I will put them under a master post with other information about Borei.

Borei has a subtle horror theme/element to it, although it is mainly a peaceful forest town with a small enclosed and developed villager community. The first house I completed, which is a "normal" house, was my mayor Malis' house. Throughout all my towns I've ever made, I always wanted the mayor to have a typical house with all the living necessities like a kitchen, bathroom, living room, and bedroom. I also never upgrade the house beyond a loft, back room, and basement because I like the look of the smaller 8x8 house with no side rooms.

Yuki visits Nary's house!

I finished off a few more item trades for my character Nary's Palace thanks to my friend Yuki and her amazing furniture shop on the Bell Tree Forums! I can't even count the number of times I have traded with her over the years and how big of a help it was for me and my towns! While I had her there, I wanted to show her a sneak preview of how Nary's rooms were coming along.

Borei: Finished & Finishing Checklist

I am slowly but steadily reaching my goal of completing Borei! There is actually not much more to be done, other than a few more house expansions and designing character rooms. This part usually takes the longest for me because a lot of the items I cannot obtain on my own and require trading. The actual landscaping for this town has been completed for a while now, so it’s just a few more things before the town is finally presentable! This post is going to detail what I’ve finished and what needs to be finished. I will also refer to this post later to check off things as I do them.
