It's been a little over a month since the update came out and I've just completed my VIP point card. So I think now's a good time to share some VIP rooms from the Resort Hotel that I’m proud of. I will call these posts “VIP Compilation”. I will likely do similar posts for Happy Home Paradise for the rooms I like. So this is Part 1, featuring Stinky, Freckles, and Sheldon!
For this post I put Stinky, Benjamin, Freckles, and Sheldon into the VIP rooms! Stinky and Freckles were both on my New Leaf town, Tinytree. I was very excited to see them again because I’ve not even seen even one island or dream island I’ve visited with them on it yet, so I wasn't even sure what their New Horizons models looked like until this point. I really do miss my old villagers from past games so I’ve been really looking forward to running into them as tourists.
Stinky's Apartment Style Room
First up is Stinky! Stinky is (or should I say was) a very important villager to me back in the New Leaf days. He was the villager that put me into an absolute crisis after he randomly moved out from a time travelling mistake back when I had my first town called Kenka and was one of the reasons to push me to reset. I was eventually able to get him back in the new version of that town, Tinytree!
I remember in the early days of New Horizons planning, I contemplated whether or not I should try to get Stinky back. I had an idea to also get Lucha, one of the only few smug villagers I liked, and have him be neighbors with Stinky.
In the end, it happened that a handful of New Leaf villagers did join me on the island (Scoot - Starter, Dizzy - Amiibo, and Ken - Amiibo), but unfortunately Stinky did not make the cut as the island got filled with other villgers I got attached to. ðŸ˜
Anyways, it was nice seeing Stinky again! Here's Stinky's trendy little apartment style hotel room! I fit everything in this VIP room including a small bathroom, kitchen with counter space, bedroom, and a small living space. The color scheme matches his red and blue luchador mask. I used the graffiti wall on the back wall to give it a more urban loft aesthetic.
The kitchen is a full kitchen with a ton of counter and dining space thanks to the retro counters. Since Stinky is a jock I had to add some workout equipment too - a pull up bar by his bed and an exercise bike behind the couch and facing the TV. This is exactly where the exercise bike is in my apartment so I always finding myself decorating it like this in the game, hehe.
Freckles' Sakura Room
There's not a single thought in Freckles' head. However, she did think to book a room at Tansan before arriving, but when I saw her on Tansan I had to upgrade her to VIP and make a special room just for her! That's why it also took me a while to finish the point card because I'd just upgrade tourists rather than searching for the VIP.
I made her a pink, specifically a sakura themed room, to go with her pink color scheme. This is a full sized 10x10 room, unlike some of the others where I prefer to keep it at 10x8 as the max size. This room was a bit hard to photograph as there are a lot of walls blocking the view. That's one of the reasons why I prefer making smaller rooms because I don't feel the need to use partition walls as much.
The bathroom for this room uses a 2x3 wood rug space which I extended by a few more tiles by adding the 1x1 square wood rug and a mom's handmade kitchen mat. That gave me enough space to add a bathtub instead of only having a shower head in a wet room style bathroom. I love how it turned out and this is probably my preferred bathroom size if I decide to add one. It allows for at least 1 more space for decor that's not necessarily bathroom-themed, such as a plant or lamp. However, in this one I added a stool with a towel basket.
Moving through the hallway is the living room to the right. There's also a small window that allows you to see into the bedroom from the living room, which is a nice change to blocking it off completely like I do sometimes. Again, most things are pink, but I tried to add more eclectic and cute items in it that might match her personality. I've been really enjoying using the retro game consoles in the rooms but I really miss the 3DS and wish they brought that back.
And finally here's the kitchen! I must say I wasn't completely happy with this one because I feel like it felt a bit too empty for how big it was... and especially how small Freckles is! I think that's mainly because partition walls feel so empty if you can't hang artwork on there. However, I thought the dining nook turned out very cute and cozy!
Sheldon's Private Gym
I didn't add a kitchen this time, but I did add a mini bar fridge stocked with drinks and protein bars. This is the cardio section with a TV in front so you can zone out and get your steps in. Although I don't think Sheldon's little legs can reach the pedals.
The bedroom isn't that interesting or cozy as it wasn't my main focus. On the ironwood cart there's a clipboard with stats or a checklist so you can record your progress (actually it would have been better with an iPad but I blew the budget on the equipment). I included a ring light in case he wants to create content and needs lighting 😂. The room also comes with a portable bluetooth speaker. I made it red so it matches the steel-frame wallpaper.
Finally, the bathroom! The public WC toilet with the lock makes it seem more like a public gym than his private room, but I thought it matched the decor well. I fit all the necessities in here, including a washing machine. I always thought that the glass jar item with salt as the customization looked like detergent if used in a bathroom. I never thought of it as salt because who the hell needs that much salt? Some of the other customizations do make sense to me though, like cookies and pasta.
Btw since preparing for this entry, Quillson came to visit TWO more times. That makes FOUR times. I wasn't counting before but I am counting now, for science. One time I even saw Quillson on the start screen with the thought bubble on his head, meaning he is even expecting VIP treatment. I shouldn’t have spoiled him so much! It seems repeat tourists visit fairly often. I’ve talked to a few who remembered me from their previous stay, even when I didn’t remember them, and I don’t have to “re-learn” their name when we have our first conversation of the day.
I wonder how long it will take to actually cycle through all 417 villagers (does that include amiibo villagers? not sure). Well anyways, that's all for this post. I think I will stick to 3 max when uploading these compilations so I don't get overwhelmed with editing or writing.
